Dude, that is awful.

Horrible - simply, utterly, horrible.

It's amazing how slogans can beat to a pulp such a beatiful thing.

"Now there were some present at that time who told Jesus about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices. Jesus answered, 'Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans because they suffered this way? I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish. Or those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them—do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem? I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish.'" (Luke 13:1-5)

In the time I've had to reflect on the photo, I've had this overwhelming sense of sorrow. Sorrow that there are people who would say these sorts of things, even believe these sorts of things. Sorrow that bringing condemnation somehow makes us feel better about our own crap and brokenness. Sorrow over a world that when it thinks about the term "Christian" has this type of image burned into the forefront of their minds. Sorrow that our reputation as followers of Jesus is more characterized by condemnation, than love and compassion.

Sorrow.

Thank you Tony for those verses in Luke. Those are the best response for people with this mindset. I love the way Jesus responds - BRILLIANT!! I get really pissed off and sad about Christians and churches with that attitude, but then to hear those words of Jesus gives me such hope and joy in the fact that God thinks that way and not the way of Woodland Hills Baptist Church.

While Jesus did say that they were not worse sinners, but he also didn't deny that they might be just as bad. We had a real good discussion about this very verse a couple weeks ago in my family.

There are no coincidences. The sovereign God could have chosen to direct the storm elsewhere. No man has the absolute answers, but I think it is just as arrogant to say that God is *not* judging mankind with 100% certainty as it is to say that he for sure is.

Sin abounds all around us, but the type of licentious living and debauchery that is tolerated and encouraged in "The Big Easy" cannot please God. Who am I to question how he deals with this?
