When the heart is narrow, the tongue is wide.
_Solomon Ibn Gabirol, Mibhar HaPeninim
Came across this quote today. It seems to put some things in perspective, does it not? Perhaps how we use our words speaks volumes about the state of our spirit. more about our spirit. Love? Grace? Judgment? Hate?
It reminded me of some other observations about words...
Sin is not ended by multiplying words, but the prudent hold their tongues.
The words of the reckless pierce like swords, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.
Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless.
