Our guys battled the White Sox tonight, and after putting up nine tough innings, we walked away with a tie, 1-1. Yes, you read that right... a tie. Apparently, according to the league rules you cannot start a new inning after 2 hours and 15 minutes from the start of the game.
Other than the lousy outcome, the game was amazing. It was quite the pitchers' duel - tight from the very beginning to the end, with both runs coming on squeeze plays. Both teams had their chances to score, but were turned away by great pitching and defense.
Josh came in to pitch in the bottom of the sixth with two outs and went the rest of the distance - pitching 3 and a third innings. He gave up one hit, one walk, and struck out five. He also went 2 for 4, with a single and a double.
Bummer that we came up just short...
A tie? Who would have thought?

a tie is like drinking warm beer. It's still beer so that's good, but it's warm.

Even hockey was wise enough to abolish the possibility of a "tie." I still don't like that they offer a point for an "overtime loss" though. You either WIN or LOSE.
