So I read this article this morning. It tells the story of a number of the widows in India who, shunned by society, come to the holy city of Vrindavan in order to await their death. I just couldn't shake it all day. It just broke my heart...
This is an absolute must read, including the photo gallery.
I read this article on CNN yesterday as well, still struck and dismayed today. In essence, this is who we should be taking care of and ministering to, be it funds, service, etc. They are widows. They are poor. They are distressed beyond measure. What shall I do? What I don't want to do is post a thought and forget. I don't want to discuss, debate or even pray about it. I just want to do something. I am so afraid of leaving the life I'm trying so hard to improve that I ignore the lives crumbling at my feet. At what point will it become too much for me to bear, the point at which I will take up my cross and act like I claim to live?

I highly, HIGHLY recmomend the movie "Water." It's an Indian film done in late 05 or early 06 about this very thing. Very fascinating and moving.
We saw it at a quaint movie house in Santa Barbara.
