Well, we arrived in Boston after a full day of travel, as we flew from Orange County to San Francisco to Boston. [I guess that’s what you get when you’re using frequent flyer miles...] Anyway, it was Mikalya and Madi’s first flight, which made the trip all the more fun. Their eyes were opened to a whole new world, one in which nice people bring you free drinks and headphones so you can listen to music or watch the movie. By the end of the flights there were veritable veterans of the air.
Our first day was spent cruising the city. I’m the only one from our family that has ever been to Boston before, so I played tour guide a bit. It was hot and humid, which meant that no one wanted to actually get out of the rental car. They were quite happy to take in the view from the air-conditioned comfort. We spent most of our day exploring the harbor area, knowing that we would be doing the Freedom Trail today.
The Freedom Trail was pretty amazing. It’s a guided walk through the heart of Boston, touching on the major events and locations of the beginnings of America. From the Old South Meeting House where they planned the Boston Tea Party, to the Old State House and the site of the Boston Massacre, to Paul Revere’s house and the Old North Church where hung lanterns – “one if by land, two if by sea.” It was pretty amazing to be in touch with this part of history. We even swung by the Bell in Hand tavern, the oldest tavern in America, for a pint of Bell in Hand Ale, a special ale made exclusively for Bell in Hand by the Sam Adams Brewing Co. [Quite a good ale, I might add...]
While we’re in Boston the first go around, were staying at the Hotel Buckminster, which has total old Boston character. [It’s also nice that it’s in Kenmore Square, two blocks from Fenway Park...] Today, we head west on I-90 to Albany, NY and then on to Cooperstown, where we’ll meet up with the rest of Josh’s team for the tournament. Before we head on the road, however, we have a little date with Fenway Park – they do guided tours of the stadium, including a stroll through in the Green Monster.
Fenway...Nice.
Although your Angels took-it to my Red Sox's last week.

Hope that you have a wonderful time in Cooperstown. Its by far one of my favorite cities in the country... It has such charm. what a great place to make family memories!
