With the sudden conclusion of our Dana Point Pony All Star team a few weeks ago, we were left wondering what direction to take with Josh and baseball. After some discussion with Josh's hitting coach, we decided that the best thing for Josh was to begin to get ready for the next level of baseball.
Last year Josh tried out for the Capo Cats Baseball Club, a development team for Capo Valley High School, the high school Josh will be going to. At that time we decided it was better for Josh to get the competitive experience of playing travel baseball [which we ended up doing for the past year plus].
With yesterday being the try-outs for the 14U Capo Cats Baseball Team, we decided this was the best direction for Josh to take now, so he tried out for the team. Tonight we got the email inviting Josh to play for the team [which he really wanted to do]. The team will be coached by the varsity coach, Chris Price, which is a great opportunity considering that the Capo Valley High School program is considered by many to be one of the top programs in the county. Playing for Capo's high school team is something Josh has talked about pretty consistently for the past few years.
It's been so cool to see him pursue his dream, to see him work really hard and see that work pay off over the past year.
Another step. Another experience.
